Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing during the holiday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about your holiday plans.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
آخر رمضان چی کار می کنی؟
(aakhar-e ramezaan chi-kaar mikoni?)
برنامه دارم که برم ساحل دریا.
(barnaame daaram ke beram kenaar-e saahel.)
Once more with the English translation.
آخر رمضان چی کار می کنی؟
(aakhar-e ramezaan chi-kaar mikoni?)
“What are you doing for End of Ramadan?”
برنامه دارم که برم ساحل دریا.
(barnaame daaram ke beram kenaar-e saahel.)
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing for End of Ramadan?”
That's:
آخر رمضان چی کار می کنی؟
(aakhar-e ramezaan chi-kaar mikoni?)
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar and a holy month for Muslims.
Listen to it again:
آخر رمضان چی کار می کنی؟, آخر رمضان چی کار می کنی؟
(aakhar-e ramezaan chi-kaar mikoni?, aakhar-e ramezaan chi-kaar mikoni?)
This Persian sentence literally translates as “End of Ramadan what you will do?” But it means “What are you doing for End of Ramadan?".
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
برنامه دارم که [plan]. (barnaame daaram ke [plan].)
This Persian sentence translates as "I have plan to [plan]." But it means "I’m planning to [plan]."
For example:
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
برنامه دارم که برم ساحل دریا., برنامه دارم که برم ساحل دریا.
(barnaame daaram ke beram kenaar-e saahel., barnaame daaram ke beram kenaar-e saahel.)
